Creekside Arts Turns 3!
Creekside Arts turned three years old on July 15th!
This year was full of mixed media art offerings, collaborations and community.
We were honored to host many local artist exhibits at Gallery Marceau Verdiere, including Natalie Craig, Aisha Pevec, Wynn Pevec, Simone Leach, Evan Dunbar, Fiona Shaughnessy and Creekside Arts’ own Marceau Verdiere.
We love our collaborations with local arts organizations! This last year we continued our collaboration with The Sanctuary to host Art21 film screenings, and with the Exit Theatre to produce two theatre productions: The American Dream and Zoo Story. Artists with The Trajectory joined us at Creekside Arts again this summer for a day of artmaking. This last year brought us some new collaborations as well – our residency artists worked with Reworded, Black Humboldt, Arcata High School, and the Humboldt County Correctional Facility – all collaborations that we hope to continue into the future.
As always, we welcomed many artists to our Creekside Arts stages. Larry Crist, Ponies of Harmony, Ukulele Dan, Jennifer Trowbridge, Brian Commings, Luna Salinas, Manaar Azreik, and Brady Walton – thank you for your beautiful music, poetry and stories.
Our annual and ongoing programming – the Spring Poetry Series, Creekside Arts in Bloom, Spring Residency Program, Open Studios, Writers Group, BAAM artist discussion group, Self-Guided Residencies – all continue to provide opportunities for local and visiting artists to focus on their work and bring artists and community together to reflect on and enjoy the arts.
Thank you to all who support Creekside Arts by attending our events, participating in conversations, appreciating our local and visiting artists, donating energy and money, and being part of our community.
