July-August 2024 - Summer Artists, Creekside Arts Turns 3
Sunday, August 18: Performance
Reading a scene from Bob Bartlett’s play, “The Regular” followed by 6pm potluck happy hour and 7pm performance.
Bob Bartlett is an award-winning playwright and theater professor from the D.C. area. When he is not sitting in a coffee shop, writing, you might find him checking out venues for his site-specific plays. He has produced plays in a laundromat, a record store, a wooded area, and his backyard, as well as in theaters.
Here at Creekside, he will work with local actors for a reading from one of his pieces.
Sunday, September 8: Sasha Lyth Art Show in the Greenhouse

2PM Artist Talk and cyanotype demonstration/hands-on Workshop
In the Creekside Arts Greenhouse, 475 Howard Hts Rd, Freshwater
Sasha Lyth, a local artist, will be showing her work, “Blueprints to the Wilderness” on Sunday September 8th in the Greenhouse at Creekside Arts. Her work features mixed media cyanotypes and eco prints exposed and printed on location deep in the wilderness of the Eastern Sierras, and aims to highlight the beauty and profound spiritual experience of being in wild places, while acknowledging the the necessity to preserve wild places from human impact.

Diane Sharp-Nachsin
is a choreographer and the founder of SHARP dance company. Her work has been showcased in Maryland, Greece, Pittsburgh, Italy, California, New Hampshire, New York and Colorado and in numerous musicals throughout the Philadelphia Area. She says,”I am hoping to expand my Garden Tour which originally began its creation in residency in Greece.” She will be collaborating with a dancer while she is here.

Jessica Ankeny
Writer
Jessica Ankeny is from Los Angles. She is an award-winning poet and editor of Black Rabbit, a poetry and ephemera journal. She finished her manuscript, “The One Version of My Life” while here, and read excerpts to the Creekside Arts Community.’

Mary Ledvina
Writer, Healer, Artist, Teacher
Mary Ledvina is a writer, healer, artist and teacher. Throughout her residency, she painted, wrote, experimented and pushed herself to new levels in her art and writing. Before moving on, she shared images, and read poetry from her nature journals with the Creekside Arts Community.

Romeo Knight
Writer and Graphic Artist
Romeo is from Savannah, Georgia. While here, they completed a chapter of their delightful graphic novel and opened their studio to the Creekside Arts Community on the last day of their residency.
Samanaz Rohanimanesh
Multimedia Journalist and Freelance Author
Sam Rohanimanesh is from San Francisco. Her Persian heritage inspires her writing.
Speaking of her current project, Samanaz says, “… my developing Dark Fantasy Fiction project, Paresthesia, is an anthology of seven interlinked stories, that investigates the interconnectivity of Woman and Land. The short stories journey the magical land of Iran and six of its age-old provinces, discovering their culture, language, traditions, and most importantly their myth, lore, and fantasy.”

Sharlene Chiu
Writer and Artist
Sharlene is from San Francisco. She is a speculative fiction writer, blending humor and fantasy. She says, “Thanks so much for a wonderful week! I had an incredible time here at Creekside. Walking through the forest and enjoying the quiet has done wonders for my creativity. I’ve written more here these past few days than I have in weeks.”
Rolling Residencies
Rolling residencies are available throughout the year for periods of two weeks or more.
Includes fully equipped, private living quarters and private studio workspaces.
Rolling Residencies are an opportunity for artists to focus on their work and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. There are 8 members of the Creekside Arts collective who live on the Creekside Arts grounds and artists are invited to join our weekly neighborhood gatherings. Resident artists are asked to participate in a casual showing or artist panel at the end of their stay. There may or may not be other visiting artists here at the same time.
Starting at $1050 for two-week residency.

WRITERS GROUP
Creekside Arts Writer’s Group meets every two weeks. The sharing of good writing, whether it be poetry, short story or the novel, is their goal. Sharing good conversation and good food is a welcomed bonus.
